Formula 1 World Championships: Spanish Grand Prix 2020, Barcelona
The Spanish Grand Prix 2019 will be held from 8th – 10th May 2020 at the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit near Barcelona.

What’s the Spanish Grand Prix?
The Spanish Grand Prix is one of the many competitions which form part of the Formula 1 world championships.
It includes around 20 races, where you’ll be able to see some of the world’s best drivers in action. Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, Nico Rosberg, Daniel Ricciardo and Romain Grosjean were all present last year. The event should be just as spectacular this year!
What happens at the Spanish Grand Prix, and how you can see it
The different stages of the Spanish Grand Prix
The big final race of the Spanish Grand Prix will be held on Sunday 10th May at the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit in Montmeló, 20km from Barcelona itself. Various other races will be held on Friday 8th and Saturday 9th May, including training and qualifying races used to determine the starting order for the grand final.
The Barcelona-Catalunya circuit
There are more than ten grandstands on the circuit, and around 35,000 places on the pelouse (lawn). The track layout is shown below.
- The purple areas are the “pelouse” zones, where you can sit where you like.
- Grandstand seats offer a much better view of the track, but this is reflected in the price.
- There are giant screens so you can follow the different stages of the race live!
Useful information and advice:
Transport
- By train: from the Sants, Clot or Passeig de Gràcia stations in Barcelona. The journey to Montmeló takes around 30 minutes, and you’ll need 25-30 minutes after that to get to the track. Tickets cost around €3.
- There are shuttle buses which run between the station and the track, and they’re free of charge if you have a Spanish Grand Prix ticket.
- By car: allow around 30 minutes to get to Montmeló. There’s a 32,000-space car park.
Disabled access
- The venue has seats for disabled visitors, lifts and accessible toilets.
Times
- Doors open around 9am on Friday, 8am on Saturday and 7am on Sunday.
Refreshments
- There are plenty of food and drink options available onsite, with 80 fast food stands!
Hints and tips
- Get there early, especially if you have a pelouse ticket: there’s no assigned seating in this area, so it’s first come, first served.
- Remember your suncream, sunglasses and hat if it’s hot.
- Earplugs or headphones are a good idea to limit the noise!
