Park hotel: historic architecture in the Born
The Park is a 3-star hotel that takes its name from the adjacent Parc de la Ciutadella. It’s located in the Born, a famously lively and artistic area.
You will therefore find a great selection of original bars, restaurants and boutiques.
Park Hotel, an historic building
The Park was built in the 1950s by the famous Catalan architect Don Antoni de Moragas i Gallissà. It was considered an oddity at the time, and perhaps for good reason, as it was one of the first neo-realist buildings constructed in Europe.
Considered a very interesting building from an architectonic perspective, it has hardly been modified since it was built, so you can have some fun identifying details from that era.
The Park Hotel restaurant and bar
The 10´s is the Park Hotel’s restaurant, although it is really more like a tapas bar!
In the morning breakfast is served here, and costs around 10 euros per person.
Then from 1p to 3:30pm and from 8pm until 11pm chef Jordi Cruz takes over the kitchen to concoct all kinds of tapas. Expect something special, as this chef has 2 Michelin stars under his belt!
The tapas and “platillos” (small plates) vary depending on the season. The price ranges from 5 to 15 euros and you can eat the equivalent of a substantial meal for around 30 euros.
A little bar/café is tucked away beside the restaurant. It’s open from 11am to midnight and it has a number of tales set outside on Marquès de l’Argentera street.
Rooms at the Park Hotel
The Park Hotel’s rooms range from single, standard, superior (most with a private terrace), to triple and quadruple. All are bright with a view.
Some rooms have a shower and others have a small bath. Make sure to state your preference when booking.
Our advice: Some of the rooms have been recently renovated and are nicer than the others. Don’t hesitate to ask for one of these as it won’t cost you more.
