Razzmatazz, an emblematic club for concerts, great music and wild nights

Razzmatazz scene

Razzmatazz is a musical institution. Right by the Marina metro station in Barcelona’s old industrial area, this former disused warehouse has been transformed into the biggest club in the city.

Since it opened in 2000 Razzmatazz has been hugely popular with all kinds of young people. The “Razz”, as it’s known, is positively labyrinthine and every corridor, stairway or terrace opens onto one of the 5 rooms in this immense venue, each with its own line-up.

The Razzmatazz rooms

The Razzclub

This is the main room of the Razzmatazz with capacity for 2000 people. It is here that the most well-known musicians play, and numerous artists such as the Artic Monkeys, Skrillex, Bloody Beetroots and Two Doors Cinema Club have rocked the RazzClub with its 3 bars and excellent sound system.

  • Don’t stand too close to the speakers, as there is no decibel limit in Spain.

The Loft

The second biggest room at the Razzmatazz is the Loft, which has become synonymous in Barcelona with all matters techno, house, tech-house, electronica, drum and bass and dubstep. Some of The Bus Music club’s nights take place here.

The three small rooms: the Lolita, the Popbar and the Rexclub

These three rooms buzz with electronic, disco, pop and rock sounds. They are less techno than the others and they are not always open. However when they are, they are well worth a look and provide a change of atmosphere as well as the chance to dance to some slightly different, but very interesting beats.

Atmosphere at the Razzmatazz

No dresscode…

No need for finery or high heels at the Razzmatazz! Here, jeans, a t-shirt and a good pair of shoes are enough! The club is not selective and welcomes everyone (as long as they are over 18 obviously).

Music to let yourself go…

You can find a lot of very good electronic, dubstep, house, drum and bass, techno, and minimal artists here, as well as others!

As soon as you enter the Razz, you will be dancing to the beat coming off the huge speakers and playing in the psychedelic lights that make this club magical. As the Razz is a former warehouse the decor is not very sophisticated.

A terrace, where you can smoke, breathe, talk and more…

After you’ve left it all on the dance floor, head up the metal staircase and dive into a crowd of young students, all taking a breather on the terrace.

You can chat with young Catalan and Spanish people, or tourists and Erasmus students, smoke, sip on the drink that’s included in the entry price, or else swing by the photo booth to get a souvenir of this memorable night!

Razzmatazz line-up and cheap tickets

On the official Razzmatazz page you will find the schedule of concerts and upcoming nights, and you can also buy tickets directly from the Razzmatazz official website, which will save you queuing.

  • A great tip: Some Razzmatazz nights are organised by “The Bus” usually on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Thanks to their Facebook page, you can register your interest in an event and get a discount, or even get free entry before a certain time!

How to get there?

The Razzmatazz is located in the old industrial area of Poblenou.

The nearest metro stations are: Marina (red line L1) and Bogatell (yellow line L4)

From Plaça Catalunya you can walk there in 20-25 minutes. If you are going by car it should take you 5 or 10 minutes: as the neighbourhood is not very central you should have no problem parking.

Two final tips

Pass if you like commercial music…

If commercial clubs playing reggae and the latest hits is your thing, then the Razzmatazz is not the place for you.  I have seen more than one tourist in there who was disappointed by the music! If you are looking for a commercial club, head to Shoko Olympic port, Catwalk or Opium.

The Razzmatazz neighbourhood

If you are going for a drink before heading to the Razz bear in mind that the surrounding area is not very lively and you won’t find any bars there. Drinking in the street is illegal in Barcelona, and as the police are often circling the Razzmatazz you can quite easily get fined.

The best option is to start the evening in a bar in the city centre and then make your way on foot to the Razz.
