For something a bit different

Vincent Van Gogh needs very little introduction – who hasn’t seen his Sunflowers ? Well ahead of his time, the innovative Dutch artist transformed the art world through his spectacular use of colours and inimitable brushstrokes.

The prestigious Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam has organised a dedicated exhibition, Meet Van Gogh, which won awards in the year of its opening, 2017. The exhibition is now on tour and will be visiting Barcelona from 14th March to 14th July 2019!

  • Barcelona is the only southern European destination on the Meet Van Gogh exhibition itinerary for the moment – so make sure you catch it while you can!
  • The Meet Van Gogh exhibition is different to the Van Gogh exhibition which opened at the Atelier des Lumières in Paris in January, featuring a large-scale overview of Van Gogh’s work. The two exhibitions complement oneanother – it’s not either/or.

Meet Van Gogh: a multi-sensory, groundbreaking 3D experience

Walking through the vast 1500 m2 exhibition space, visitors have the opportunity to explore Van Gogh’s world, his daily life and his most celebtrated works, reproduced on a large scale and in 3 dimensions. The aim of the exhibition is to make Vincent Van Gogh accessible to visitors of all ages and all walks of life, and to allow you to get up close and personal with his work!

Meet Van Gogh: video presentation

  • Educational value: the exhibition is suitable for visitors of all ages, whatever their level of expertise (from absolute novices to Van Gogh conoisseurs). • The quality of the work makes the discovery magical and poetic.

Our opinion about Meet Van Gogh

chambre de Van Gogh

I had the privilege of attending the inauguration of this magnificent exhibition.

  • I found this expo luminous and very instructive.
  • It was a moving and poetic experience to enter the famous painting of Van Gogh’s room in Arles and to be able to examine it from all angles and in every detail. I think that it was a clever way to help visitors better understand the work of this great artist.
  • This expo echoes the Akira Kurosawa film. Take the time to watch this short extract:

  • The highlighting, at the end of the visit, of the many influences of Van Gogh in the world of arts emphasizes the indelible imprint that the painter has left in the whole world.
  • Unlike other exhibitions; here, it’s possible to touch everything, to photograph everything, to walk backwards, to climb on a cart and to sit on one of Van Gogh’s coffee tables. This exhibition gives us a breath of freedom well appreciated!
