Eat here if there are fewer than 4 of you.<\/p>\n<p>Sitting at the bar you can enjoy the incomparable view of all the tapas on offer, but you will also be tempted to try the whole range in this fresh colourful display.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-post-image alignnone wp-image-7796\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2014\/02\/comptoir.jpg\" alt=\"cerveceria-catalana tapas bar\" width=\"628\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/barcelona-top-travel-tips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2014\/02\/comptoir.jpg 628w, https:\/\/barcelona-top-travel-tips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2014\/02\/comptoir-300x215.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 628px) 100vw, 628px\" \/>\n<\/p>\n<h3>Dining room<\/h3>\n<p>\nThe restaurant is nicely decorated with wine bottles displayed against blue green walls.<\/p>\n<p>Here a hostess will seat you, which is a good thing as Cervecer&iacute;a Catalana is almost always packed!\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Downside: the service here is not always up to scratch and some of our readers have complained about the unfriendliness of the staff.<\/li>\n<li>Our advice: Avoid coming between 2pm and 4pm and between 9pm and 11pm as these are peak busy times. Better to come at noon or 7pm. Otherwise be prepared to wait for a table, as it is impossible to book.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>The terrace<\/h3>\n<p>\nIf you prefer to enjoy your tapas in the fresh air there are a number of tables set in front of Cervecer&iacute;a Catalana, on the very busy Mallorca street.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-post-image alignnone wp-image-7798\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2014\/02\/P9081412.jpg\" alt=\"cervecer&iacute;a catalana tapas prawns\" width=\"628\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/barcelona-top-travel-tips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2014\/02\/P9081412.jpg 628w, https:\/\/barcelona-top-travel-tips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2014\/02\/P9081412-300x215.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 628px) 100vw, 628px\" \/>\n<\/p>\n<h2>Tapas and montaditos at the Cervecer&iacute;a Catalana<\/h2>\n<h3>The classics<\/h3>\n<p>\nCervecer&iacute;a Catalana offers a wide choice of classic and unusual tapas including <em>croquetas<\/em>, <em>tortillas<\/em>, <em>montaditos<\/em> (slices of bread with a tapa mounted on top) and toasts.<\/p>\n<p>You can try the Catalan highlights here for around 2 euro per tapa.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2013\/08\/montaditos.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-7800 aligncenter background-curly-sprite\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2013\/08\/montaditos.png\" alt=\"montaditos\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\"><\/a>\n<\/p>\n<h3>Tapas of the day<\/h3>\n<p>\nThe tapas are made with seasonal products. When I last visited, I went for parsley and garlic calamari, duck fillet with apple and liver and a <em>montadito<\/em> of grilled prawn. A treat!<\/p>\n<p>If I had still been hungry I might have gone for the courgette, pepper and goat&#8217;s cheese <em>mille-feuilles<\/em> served in generous portions.<\/p>\n<p>The tapas of the day are a little more sophisticated than the classic tapas so it costs a little more at around 5 euros each.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"628\" height=\"450\" class=\"wp-post-image wp-image-7802\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2014\/02\/poulpe.jpg\" alt=\"cerveceria-catalana\" srcset=\"https:\/\/barcelona-top-travel-tips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2014\/02\/poulpe.jpg 628w, https:\/\/barcelona-top-travel-tips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2014\/02\/poulpe-300x215.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 628px) 100vw, 628px\" \/>\n<\/p>\n<h3>Seafood<\/h3>\n<p>\nAt the bar you can also observe various raw seafood which they will cook for you on request, particularly lobster, squid, calamari and prawns.\n<\/p>\n<h3>Mixed Salads<\/h3>\n<p>\nTo accompany your tapas, Cervecer&iacute;a Catalana offers various mixed salads made with vegetables, pasta or rice, as well as <em>escalavidas<\/em>, those pickled vegetables mentioned in <a title=\"Sp&eacute;cialit&eacute;s catalanes: le grand bal des saveurs gourmandes\" href=\"\/catalan-specialties\/\">our article on Catalan specialties<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<h2>Beers to wash down your tapas<\/h2>\n<p>\nAs the name indicates (&#8220;cervesa&#8221; means beer in Catalan), Cervecer&iacute;a Catalana offers a great choice of Catalan, Spanish and international beers.
