The MEAM (European Museum of Modern Art) offers visitors a concentrated dose of figurative art and creativity! If you’re looking for a museum less ordinary, the MEAM offers a refreshing breath of fresh air.

MEAM: a central location in the heart of the Born

The MEAM is located down a side-street in the Born, one of the quarters which make up Barcelona’s Old Town. Just like its neighbour, the Picasso Museum, it’s housed in a former mansion: the Palau Gomis, a superb 18th-Century neoclassical edifice, named after a rich textile merchant who had the house rebuilt in 1792.

The historical aspect of the building provides a strong and effective foil for the museum’s supremely modern collections.

MEAM: Collections

"MEAM

The MEAM houses an important collection of 20th and 21st Century works, mostly paintings and sculptures.

The museum features works by artists from all four corners of the earth, united by a single element: their sheer talent! We were impressed by the precision and the mastery on display – some of the paintings are so realistic that they could easily be mistaken for photographs.

The collection includes portraits, landscapes, pictures of animals, still lifes and more.
