Hotel Barcelona Catedral: terrace and swimming pool in the Gòtic quarter
The 4 star Barcelona Catedral hotel is ideally located between Plaça Catalunya and Barcelona cathedral in the heart of the city.
Rooms at the Barcelona Catedral
The simple but comfortable rooms at the Barcelona Catedral are surprisingly quiet given the hotel’s location.
Almost all of the rooms are “executive”. The few superior rooms are larger than the “executive” rooms. The hotel also has a suite, and all rooms have a bath.
If you are coming with your family or a small group you can ask for adjoining rooms. There are no triple rooms but an extra bed can be provided in any of the rooms.
The common areas of the Barcelona Catedral
The large lobby
In the hotel’s large lobby there are numerous armchairs as well as comfortable couches where you can flick through the Spanish newspapers provided. It is not the most private area but it is still pleasant.
Before reception, in a separate little space, there is a computer corner that guests can use for free.
The restaurant
The Barcelona Catedral restaurant serves breakfast between 7:30am and 10:30am. If it is not included in your room rate it will cost you just over 18 euros.
Monday to Friday they also serve lunch. The hotel offers a set menu for around 20 euros including a starter, main course, dessert, water and a glass of wine. It is closed in the evening.
The terrace and bar
At the Barcelona Catedral, you can also enjoy breakfast or lunch on the large terrace adjacent to the restaurant.
This is a space that is dedicated to relaxation where you can also enjoy drinks from the bar until 11pm.
The swimming pool and gym
The pool is located on the top floor of the hotel and open from 7:30am to 9pm. It is an average size and is surrounded by deck chairs. There is no bar but a server comes up every hour or so to take orders. For safety reasons drinks are served in plastic glasses.
Below the pool is a small gym with weights, two exercise bikes and a treadmill.
