La Dentellière: a romantic restaurant for a delicious meal in the hear of the Gothic quarter
In Barcelona’s historic centre, well hidden behind rows of tourist-trap restaurants, is a little pearl called la Dentellière: an elegant restaurant with charming staff and creative cuisine. Care to join us?
La Dentellière is romantic
Set in an 18th century building, la Dentellière offers culinary treats in a warm setting. Its period stone walls, old mirrors and subdued lighting create a very romantic atmosphere that make it the perfect spot for dinner for two, as well as for small groups.
La Dentellière, fresh produce and refined dishes
The menu at la Dentellière is varied and extremely appealing. The food is made with fresh seasonal products. The meat is environmentally friendly, its extra virgin olive oil is made in a Catalan cooperative, the eggs are organic, the fruit and vegetables are grown near Barcelona and the rice in the homemade paella comes straight from Delta de l’Ebre. Only the best!
It is therefore quite difficult to choose what to have at la Dentellière. Luckily, Evelyne, the restaurant’s friendly French owner, took the time to advise us and share with her her passion for good food (she’s the one who creates all the dishes on the menu).
In the end we decided to try a number of tapas and platillos and we really enjoyed this little culinary journey combining traditional flavours and unexpected ingredients.
My taste buds did a little Mexican wave at various points (I have very demonstrative taste buds 😉
To start we tried the delicious gazpacho with watermelon and mint. We then tried an organic egg from Cala, on a bed of wonderfully seasoned ratatouille.
The mixture of original flavours in the sea bream and prawn ceviche in sweet potato mash and ginger mousse made my pallet sing (My pallet also sings!;)
I also really enjoyed the little fish fillets in coconut milk and red curry, accompanied by a delicious glass of cool white wine although I was a little less impressed by the duck breast and foie gras salad in orange vinaigrette, although it was still very good.
Perfect for a hot summer’s night, the dessert surpassed by expectations. The flavors of mango sorbet and coulis in yogurt with a sprinkling of chocolate were perfectly balanced. I’m still drooling over it…
- Good news ! By specifying that you come from Barcelona Top Travel Tips, a digestive (chupito) will be offered to you!
Prices and info
Given the quality of the food, the prices at la Dentellière are completely reasonable.
- You should spend between 4 and 8 euros for tapas and desserts and around 15 euros on average for one of the showstopper main courses.
- The restaurant is only open in the evening from 6:30pm. It is closed on Tuesdays.
- We didn’t try the paella, but we have heard great things! Made in the traditional way with high quality products, it has all the makings of a delicious meal. As my professional integrity knows no limits I am going to have to go back to try it at some stage. Sigh. My life is so hard!
A great place for a great dinner.
I recommend this restaurant 🙂
