Praktik Vinoteca: a cosy hotel devoted to wine
Here at Top Travel Tips, we’re big fans of the Praktik hotel concept: great locations, original settings, designer décor and reasonable pricing. Simple, but effective! We’ve already reviewed the Praktik Bakery and the Praktik Garden; now, here’s the Praktik Vinoteca, yet another successful application of the Praktik ethos!
The decoration, by Lázaro Rosa-Violan, is both unique and characteristic of Barcelona. The celebrated interior designer is responsible for a number of projects across the city, including the Market Hotel and restaurant, the Pulitzer Hotel, the Ofelias Hotel, Big Fish and Bocagrande, all both grandiose and sophisticated.
Praktik Vinoteca: an ideal place to discover local wines
The theme of the hotel is obvious the second you walk through the door. The entrance hall at Praktik Vinoteca, which also serves as a lounge, is decorated with countless bottles of wine all over the walls. The reception counter also serves as – guess what? – a bar.
A sommelier visits every weekend in the low season (more often in high season) to offer free wine tastings to clients of the hotel, focusing on wines from Catalonia and elsewhere in Spain. If you want to go further, you can book a more “professional” small-group tasting session for between €20 and €30 per person. As the hotel also sells wine, it’s a good idea to make the most of the sommelier’s presence to help you choose a few bottles best-suited to your personal tastes.
Finally, you’ll find a little leaflet in your room with the addresses of great tapas and wine bars, selected by the Praktik team. A nice finishing touch!
Rooms at Praktik Vinoteca
Praktik Vinoteca only offers double rooms, split into two categories: standard doubles (overlooking an inner courtyard) and outer doubles. These are lighter and brighter than the others, and will set you back around €20 more.
The rooms aren’t big, but they have everything you might need, including a safe. There are no baths, only showers.
When booking, remember to specify whether you’d like a double or twin beds.

- A relatively varied cold breakfast buffet is available for under €10 a head.
- The hotel offers a left-luggage service.
- Check-in is from 2pm, check-out by noon.
