The best value: Casa Vives

Founded in 1895, Casa Vives is a bakery and chocolate shop owned by the same family for generations. The chocolates are made from very high quality products and you can taste the difference!

Personally, I melted for the catanies, little almond balls covered in white chocolate and rolled in cocoa…A real discovery! The citrus chocolates are also well worth a try.

  • Why? For the quality of their products
  • Where? There are two Casa Vives boutiques in Barcelona: One at Sants, 74, the other on the Rambla Catalunya, 58.
  • When? Sants: Monday to Sunday from 8am to 8:45pm. Rambla Catalunya: Monday to Saturday 8am to 9pm, Sunday 9am to 3pm.

The most typical: Fargas

Tucked away in a little 100-year old boutique in the Gothic district, Fargas is not lacking in charm. As soon as you walk into this little shop you are greeted by a delicious aroma of chocolate. Inside the regulars and locals know exactly what they want from the old wooden display racks in the window.

Fargas also specialises in chocolate sculptures and you can even see some in the shop, which is a pretty nice little extra!

The most mythical: Escribà
