Many of Barcelona’s restaurants stay open over Christmas, offering a special festive menu on the evening of 24th December. For a seasonal treat in a sophisticated atmosphere, a top hotel is a go-to option for a night to remember! Christmas meals don’t come cheap, but you get a lot for your money. Read on for a hand-picked selection of establishments offering Christmas specials.

The CentOnze at Le Méridien
This hotel restaurant offers a special dinner menu on 24th December, priced at 69 euros.
Pelai
The restaurant at Catalonia Rambla offers a Christmas menu for 65 euros including drinks.
Grand Place Bistrot in Gran Hotel Havana
The Gran Hotel Havana’s restaurant offers: a menu for Christmas dinner at 55 euros including drinks and another menu for Christmas lunch at 65 euros including drinks.

A Catalan Christmas
If you live in Barcelona, or if you’re renting an apartment over the festive period, why not adopt the local customs for your Christmas meal?
Forget the turkey… and the sprouts!
Traditional features of the Catalan Christmas meal include stuffed chicken and sopa de galets, a warming soup featuring pasta, meat and vegetables. Pudding-wise, expect turron (soft or hard nougat) and neules (long tubular wafer biscuits), all washed down with Cava, served in rounded coupe glasses.
On the feast of Sant Esteve (St Stephen – he of Good King Wenceslas fame – 26th December), the menu features cannelons, often stuffed with leftovers from the Christmas meal.
One thing’s for certain – you’ll save big by staying in for your meal, and a Catalan-style Christmas is a fun new experience!
