October 2011 saw the start of the first Tapa Solidària (united tapa), a project organised by the Casal d’Infants, sponsored by the great chef Ferràn Adrià and his brother Albert, and adopted by more than 70 restaurants in Barcelona and the greater region.

Why Tapa Solidària?

This solidarity initiative was organised by an organisation aimed at improving the living conditions of children aged 0 to 3 and their mothers living in very precarious situations.

The Tapa Solidària principle is simple: each participating restaurant chooses a tapa from their menu and donates 50 euro cents to Casal d’Infants, every time that tapa is ordered.

Thanks to the support of many renowned restaurants in Barcelona and their customers, Tapa Solidària collected in the first three years nearly 65,000 euros for children in underserved areas of Barcelona.

So if you order this tapa, you are contributing to the project yourself. It’s a simple and fun way to enjoy Catalan cuisine while doing a good deed.

When is Tapa Solidària?

Each Tapa Solidària lasts three months. It starts at the beginning of October and ends at the beginning of the following January.
